ECDC Beldangi Honors Regular Donor Mr. Praja Dhital, Founder of Global Foundation of America
Beldangi, October 17, 2025 | Beldangi Online Khabar
The only school operating inside the Beldangi Refugee Camp, ECDC
Beldangi, organized a special welcome and honor ceremony on October 17, 2025,
to recognize and express gratitude toward its regular donor, Mr. Praja Dhital,
the Founder and President of the Global Foundation of America.
The program was organized in a simple but meaningful way by
the ECDC staff. Mr. Dhital was warmly welcomed with a dossalla (traditional
scarf) and presented with a letter of appreciation by the school team. The
event aimed to acknowledge the continuous support that the Global Foundation of
America has been extending to ECDC Beldangi, especially in the field of health
by regularly providing first aid materials and necessary medical supplies.
Speaking at the event, ECDC Incharge Mr. Mani Raj Subba
expressed heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Dhital for his consistent assistance
and goodwill. He highlighted that the regular support provided by the Global
Foundation of America has helped the school maintain a healthy environment for
its teachers and staff, ensuring that minor injuries and health concerns can be
addressed promptly within the school premises. “We are very thankful for this
continued support,” Mr. Subba shared during his remarks.
In response, Mr. Praja Dhital humbly said that what he was
doing was not a big contribution but rather his duty toward the community that
once supported him. Recalling his own journey as a refugee in the Beldangi Camp
years ago, he mentioned that organizations like UNHCR, Caritas Nepal, and AMDA
had provided invaluable assistance to him and thousands of others during their
time of need. “I have never forgotten the support we received when we had
nothing. Today, I am simply returning that kindness by helping my own
community,” Mr. Dhital said during his speech.
He further added that Global Foundation of America is not only
supporting ECDC Beldangi, but also extending its services to the broader Bhutanese
Refugee Community in Beldangi through various community welfare programs.
According to him, the organization has been consistently contributing to
improving the health and well-being of refugee families who continue to live
within the settlement.
Mr. Dhital stated that Global Foundation of America is
supporting the Bhutanese Refugee Settlement in Beldangi in the health sector
free of cost. Patients suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure have
been receiving their required medicines regularly from the Global Health
Post/Clinic located within the Beldangi Refugee Camp. This health post,
operated by Global Foundation Nepal—a local partner organization of Global
Foundation of America—serves as a vital medical center for the community.
He further mentioned that the Global Health Post/Clinic does
not only serve sugar and pressure patients but also provides basic health
facilities and primary medical care to all individuals within the camp. The
health post ensures that people receive timely check-ups, free medicines, and
consultations for common health issues without having to travel outside the
settlement. “We are providing general health services to every individual in
need. Health is a basic right, not a privilege, and we are proud to make that
possible here,” Mr. Dhital emphasized.
The Global Foundation of America, through its Nepal branch Global
Foundation Nepal, has been actively working to improve health conditions in the
Bhutanese Refugee Settlement by ensuring regular supply of medicines and
essential health materials. This initiative has been especially valuable for
elderly refugees and those who cannot afford medical treatment elsewhere.
He assured that the Global Foundation of America will
continue to provide regular health support, medical supplies, and other
necessary assistance to both the Bhutanese Refugee Settlement and ECDC School
in the coming days. Mr. Dhital also expressed his belief that long-term
development and community well-being can only be achieved through education and
health, two areas where his foundation remains deeply committed.
ECDC staff members present at the event expressed their
gratitude not only for the health-related materials but also for the sense of
care and connection that the Global Foundation of America has continued to show
toward the refugee community. They highlighted that such regular support helps
maintain the health of staff and ensures better attendance, discipline, and
overall well-being in the school environment.
The event also carried deep emotional significance. For many
residents, seeing Mr. Dhital—someone who once lived as a refugee in the same
camp—return as a successful humanitarian leader brought a strong sense of pride
and inspiration. His story represents the resilience of the Bhutanese refugee
community and the spirit of giving back that continues to unite them across
borders.
Several local community representatives and ECDC members
present during the ceremony praised the noble work of Global Foundation of
America and encouraged similar initiatives from other organizations and
individuals who have roots in the refugee community. They emphasized that
collective efforts like these strengthen the sense of unity and hope among
those who still remain in the camp.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Mani Raj Subba once again
extended sincere thanks to Mr. Dhital and his entire team for their dedication
and continued humanitarian work. “Your contribution is making a real difference
in people’s lives,” he said, adding that ECDC Beldangi is always open to
collaboration that benefits the school and the refugee community as a whole.
The program concluded with a group photo and informal
interactions among the attendees. The atmosphere was filled with appreciation
and respect as everyone acknowledged the ongoing partnership between ECDC
Beldangi and the Global Foundation of America.
Through efforts like these, the Global Foundation of America
continues to demonstrate its commitment to the welfare and development of the
Bhutanese Refugee Community, both inside and outside Nepal. Its health and
education initiatives, operated through Global Foundation Nepal, stand as a
symbol of compassion, solidarity, and the enduring connection between those who
have resettled abroad and those who continue to live in the camp.
As ECDC Beldangi moves forward with its mission to provide
quality education and maintain a healthy school environment, the ongoing
support from organizations like the Global Foundation of America will
undoubtedly remain a cornerstone in its journey toward a better and healthier
future.
