World Bank Plans to Increase Investment in Nepal’s Education Infrastructure

The World Bank has expressed strong interest in increasing investment to support the development of Nepal’s education infrastructure and improve the overall quality of education in the country.

During a meeting held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Minister Sasmit Pokharel met with World Bank Country Director for Nepal, David Sislen. The discussion focused on key priorities including education sector reform, expansion of school infrastructure, and the promotion of a technology-driven education system in Nepal.

The World Bank highlighted its willingness to strengthen collaboration with the Government of Nepal, particularly in areas such as school construction, upgrading educational facilities, and improving access to quality education for students across urban and rural regions.

According to the Ministry, both sides also discussed strategies to make partnerships more effective in achieving long-term educational reforms. Expanding access to quality education and ensuring sustainable development in the education sector were key points of discussion.

Minister Pokharel emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening foundation learning, improving educational infrastructure, and promoting digitization in education. He stated that integrating technology into classrooms and expanding digital learning opportunities are among the government’s top priorities.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to enhance cooperation between Nepal and the World Bank to build a more inclusive, modern, and resilient education system.
