Beldangi, Jhapa — In a time when humanitarian assistance has become increasingly scarce, a relief distribution program has brought much-needed support to 135 Bhutanese refugee families living in the Beldangi refugee camp.

The initiative was carried out with the support of Graceful Hand, in coordination with and organized by the Beldangi Settlement Management Committee. At a time when no donor agencies have been providing regular food supplies or relief assistance, this effort has offered critical support to some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

According to organizers, the relief was specifically targeted at single, disabled, marginalized, and economically disadvantaged families who have been struggling to meet their daily needs.

Each household received essential food items including 10 kilograms of rice, 400 grams of lentils, 200 grams of cooking oil, and salt. The distribution was jointly carried out by Mr. Pancham Rai, a teacher and social worker representing Graceful Hand, and Mr. Sancha Hang Subba, Secretary of the beldangi settlement.

Speaking at the event, Secretary Sancha Hang Subba expressed his emotions, stating that families who have long been battling hardship felt a sense of reassurance and belonging through this support. He noted that although the relief may only last for a few days, it has helped light stoves, ease worries, and restore hope for the future. He emphasized that even small acts of kindness can create meaningful change in people’s lives.

Local residents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Graceful Hand and the organizing committee for extending support during such difficult times. They also highlighted the need for continued humanitarian assistance to ensure the well-being of vulnerable families in the camp.
