Local youth social worker Mr. Raju Budathoki also attended the event, representing the voice of the younger generation. His active involvement in community programs and his recognition of Mr. Dhital’s work added emotional depth to the ceremony. The audience included local residents, social workers, teachers, and youths from the Beldangi camps who have directly benefited from the health initiatives launched under Global Foundation Nepal.
Global Foundation’s impact on refugee health
Global Foundation of America, through its Nepal branch Global Foundation Nepal, has been providing free healthcare services, medicines, and medical materials to the Bhutanese refugee population for the past several years.
The organization has established a Free Health facilities inside the refugee camp itself, making basic healthcare accessible to those who otherwise struggle to afford or reach it. The health service operates five days a week (Monday through Friday) and provides general medical services, minor treatments, and distribution of necessary medicines—all completely free of cost.
In addition, once a week, a specialist doctor visits the refugee camp to provide expert consultations for chronic illnesses, maternal care, and other medical needs that require advanced attention. This initiative has helped reduce the rate of untreated illnesses within the camp and has become a reliable source of support for hundreds of families.
The health service not only offers treatment but also conducts awareness programs on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare. Through these programs, the Foundation encourages families to adopt healthier lifestyles and prevent common diseases such as colds, infections, and seasonal illnesses.
A voice from the youth
Speaking during the event, social worker Mr. Raju Budathoki praised both Global Foundation of America and Global Foundation Nepal for their consistent humanitarian work. He said that their efforts in ensuring free access to health care have strengthened the spirit of community and compassion within the camp.
“People who dedicate their lives to the welfare of others are the true inspiration for society. Mr. Praja Dhital has been a beacon of hope and support for our community.”
Mr. Budathoki further added that the involvement of youth in community service should be encouraged, as it continues the legacy of people like Mr. Dhital who have turned their compassion into action. His remarks were met with applause and emotional appreciation from the audience.
Praja Dhital: a life dedicated to service
In his remarks, the chief guest Mr. Praja Dhital expressed deep gratitude to the Former Camp Management Committee for the honor. He said that the recognition was not merely an award but a reminder of greater responsibility.
“This honor has added more responsibility and motivation to my work. I remain committed to supporting the community in the fields of health and education. Seeing the smiles of people when they receive help is the greatest reward of all.”
Mr. Dhital’s journey began from humble roots. Born in Bhutan and raised in the refugee camps of Nepal, he understands the challenges faced by displaced families. Having experienced the struggles firsthand, he established Global Foundation of America with a mission to help vulnerable communities worldwide. Through its Nepal branch, the Foundation continues to serve not only refugees but also low-income families in need of medical and educational support.
Over the years, Mr. Dhital’s foundation has organized various health camps, distributed essential medicines, and supported schools with first-aid supplies and hygiene materials. His vision focuses on creating sustainable and inclusive community welfare systems that prioritize human dignity.
A legacy of compassion
The Former Camp Management Committee members emphasized that people like Mr. Dhital represent the best of the Bhutanese refugee community—those who turn hardship into an opportunity to uplift others. His success and continued engagement with the refugee population are seen as a source of pride and motivation for all.
During the event, the atmosphere was filled with appreciation and emotional connection. Participants shared stories of how the free health services had saved lives, particularly among children and elderly members of the camp. Several attendees mentioned that before the Foundation’s involvement, access to healthcare was extremely limited, and even minor illnesses could become life-threatening due to lack of treatment.
Chairperson’s closing remarks
At the end of the ceremony, chairperson Mr. T. B. Rai delivered closing remarks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Global Foundation Nepal, Global Foundation of America, founder Mr. Praja Dhital, the organizing committee, and all those who attended the program.
“On behalf of the Former Camp Management Committee, I want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has played a part in making this event successful. We are especially thankful to Mr. Praja Dhital for his unwavering commitment to our community. His dedication reminds us that kindness and generosity are the foundation of humanity.”
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local committees, international organizations, and individuals who care about refugee welfare. “When we work together,” he added, “we can create real and lasting change.”
A moment to remember
The felicitation program concluded with warm applause, smiles, and the presentation of tokens of love and appreciation. Many attendees stayed behind to personally thank Mr. Dhital for his contribution and to take photographs as a memory of the meaningful day.
The event not only celebrated an individual’s contribution but also reinforced the collective belief that humanitarian work is not limited by borders or status—it begins with empathy and action.
Through initiatives like those led by Global Foundation of America and Global Foundation Nepal, the Bhutanese refugee community in Beldangi continues to find strength, health, and hope for a better future.
